H.E AMBASSADOR PAUL AMORU UGANDA’S HIGH COMMISSIONER TO THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA HOSTS MS. MONICA RUBOMBORA AND MS. KARIN MATODES OF UGANDA AIRLINES SOUTH AFRICA OFFICE FOR A COURTESY CALL MEETING .

H.E Amb. Paul Amoru hosted Ms. Monica Rubombora and Ms. Karin Matodes for a courtesy call meeting at the Uganda High Commission Chancery in Pretoria.

Ms. Monica Rubombora is Uganda Airlines’ Resident Representative while Ms. Karin Matodes is the Chief Commercial Officer of Airlinepros SA, the Aviation Company representing Uganda Airlines in South Africa.

The High Commissioner welcomed the Uganda Airlines’ team and expressed his gratitude for their courtesy call on him.

In their remarks, the Uganda Airlines team welcomed the High Commissioner to South Africa, presented to him a brief on the Carrier’s annual performance , highlighted the achievements, the market structure, challenges and projections for potential growth of the airline.

Among the achievements, the Ailrines team indicated that in the past one year of commencement of flights on the EBB – JBURG route an exponential growth of 200% in passenger volume had been registered. And among the challenges, the team pointed out the challenge of the restrictive one bag policy as well as the late night flight schedules.

The parties exchanged views on how to collaborate to improve Uganda Airline’s service to the people, foster business relationships, promotion of “brand Uganda” and trade & tourism investment attraction in the Southern African region.

The parties agreed on a proposal to partner and engage the business community in Southern Africa for Business Forum with business Agencies and other relevant Agencies in Uganda in the near future.

The two sides also agreed to work together and with relevant authorities in Government to advocate for procurement of a medium size aircraft to ply the EBB-JBURG route so as to find a long term solution to the one bag policy and to increase the number of day flights to more than one in a week.

The team from Uganda Airlines presented Amb. Paul Amoru with gifts, one of which is a book “40 Lakes to Visit in Uganda Before You Die”, – authored by Ms. Rubombora Monica, in honour of the High Commissioner’s posting to the Mission.

The High Commissioner once again thanked Ms. Monica Rubombora and Ms. Karin Matodes for taking time off their busy schedule to visit him, for the gifts and the efforts to strengthen the collaboration between Uganda Airlines and the High Commision.

His Excellency pledged the Mission’s support to the Airlines team to further strengthen the already existent cordial working relations who in turn pledged support to the Mission for excellent service delivery to the public as well as growth of the airline.

The airline team wished the High Commissioner a successful tour of duty in Southern Africa.
