JOINT STATEMENT OF THE MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS DURING THE BILATERAL DIPLOMATIC AND POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS HELD AT THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, KIGALI – RWANDA


The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, Honorable Dr vincent Biruta and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of uganda Honorable General odongo Jeje Abubakhar held bilateral Diplomatic and Political Consultations, in Kigali-Rwanda, on 1st Septembe r 2022.
The Diplomatic and Political consultations between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs is a continuation of the commitment of the Heads of State to further deepen and strengthen the cordial bilateral rerations between the two sisterry countries.
Both Ministers acknowledged the ongoing progress made so far to normalize bilateral relations’ They reiterated their commitmi”t to focus efforts on the mutual regional security and development issues that impact on the socio-economic welfare of the peoples of the two Countries.
The Ministers appreciated the leadership of both Countries, H.E paul Kagame, The President of the Republic of Rwanda and H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, The president of the Republic of Uganda for their continued cornmitment to revive and strengthen bilateral relatibns’ Additionally, the Ministers recognized H.E paul Kagame,s visit to Uganda and the subsequent H.E Yoweri Museveniis visit to Rwanda during CH6GM 2022 as a strong signal toward renewed bilateral relations;
The Ministers exchanged views on regional matters relating to security, trade, investment and strategic regional project
They agreed to review and revive bilateral cooperation in the different areas of interest Ministers by convening the next Joint Permanent commission between Rwanda and Uganda. The agreed that the next Joint Permanent Commission will be hosled by the Republic of Rwanda by March 2023; which wiil focus on criticai consideration the outcomes of the rast Joint permanent commission.
The Honorable Dr vincent Biruta, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Internationai cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda and The Honlorable General odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda expressed gratitude for the steps taken so far to ienew good and coidial relatiols between the two sister countries and remain committed to see the people of both Rwanda and Uganda enjoying the full benefits of the cordial relations.
