Thousands of young leaders from the greater Masaka districts convened on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at St. Charles Lwanga Kasasa Senior Secondary School in Kalungu district to participate in a three-day ideological workshop organized by the ruling party Secretariat.
The workshop, as explained by NRM officials, aims to guide the youth towards becoming responsible future leaders in their communities and the nation at large.
Hon. Rosemary Nansubuga Seninde, the NRM director of mobilization, stated that the program, officially commencing tomorrow, will equip the youth with comprehensive knowledge on using leadership to address societal issues such as poverty, ignorance, and disease.
“We aim to empower our aspiring leaders with ideological orientation, a positive mindset, and leadership skills to enable them to engage in productive politics and contribute to the socio-economic transformation of the country by supporting government programs,” Seninde explained.
She emphasized that youth are sometimes misguided not due to their desires but because of incorrect guidance from certain groups, leading to negative mindsets and perceptions about the government.
Seninde invited youth leaders from all religious, cultural, and political institutions in Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Masaka districts, and Masaka city to participate.
Hon. Emmanuel Dombo, the Director of Communication at the NRM Secretariat, emphasized that the youth retreat will empower young people to understand their responsibilities and provide a platform for exchanging ideas on government programs like the Parish Development Model and other wealth creation projects within their communities.
He assured that the facilitators would take on the responsibility of teaching, training, and guiding them on what they need to do to benefit from government initiatives.
The retreat is scheduled to conclude on Friday, December 8, this week.
