The Secretary-General of the NRM, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, today extended a warm welcome to Ms. Asiimwe Joan as she officially joined the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Asiimwe, formerly affiliated with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party, cited a loss of faith in the party’s principles as her reason for departure.
Accompanied by Buyaga West constituency MP Hon. Barnabas Tinkasimire and other local leaders from Kitagwenda and Kamwenge districts, Ms. Asiimwe was received at the party’s headquarters on Plot 10, Kyadondo Road in Nakasero Kampala.
During the ceremony, the Secretary-General presented Asiimwe with the NRM constitution, manifesto, and branded shirts, symbolizing her official induction into the NRM.
Encouraging her to familiarize herself with the party’s core tenets, Todwong emphasized the NRM’s commitment to addressing issues affecting the masses.
He commended Asiimwe for her decision to join the NRM, highlighting the party’s focus on unity and progress for all generations.
In her remarks, Asiimwe expressed confidence in the NRM’s principles and vowed to contribute to the country’s development through active political engagement.
Citing a lack of direction and purpose within the FDC, Asiimwe affirmed her decision to join the NRM as a means of pursuing meaningful political participation.
