Somali citizens living in Lower Shabelle of Ceelajale have appealed to President Museveni to allow UPDF soldiers, part of the African Transition Mission in Somalia, to remain and stabilize the fragile security in the country.
This appeal comes amid plans for ATMIS to withdraw from Somalia by December 15, 2024. In an interview, a Somali national in Ceelajale expressed concerns about the imminent threat of Al-Shabaab reclaiming the areas that have already been liberated.
