Uganda Embassy in Tehran Mourns H.E. President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian & Entourage

The Charge d’Affaires a.i., Mr. Oscar Edule yesterday , Sunday 26th May 2024, together with other Heads of Missions and Heads of International Organizations in Tehran, signed a book of condolences following the demise of H.E Ephraim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E.Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Members of delegation in a helicopter crash that occurred on Sunday 19th May 2024 in East Azerbaijan Province of Iran.

The CDA conveyed, on behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Uganda, deepest condolences to the Government and People of Iran following the untimely and tragic demise of H.E. President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and members of delegation noting the significant roles the two leaders played in further deepening the excellent bilateral relations, both political and economic, between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Uganda. The ceremony was held in the Mirror Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ceremony that was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was part of a series of commemoration events in memory of deceased H.E. President Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdolahian and delegation. A memorial service was held on Friday, 24 May 2024, exclusively in honour of H.E. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, culminated in the commemoration prayer on Saturday, 25 May 2024, in honour of H.E. Ayatollah Raisi, H.E. Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his companion. These commemorative prayers were held in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran H.E. Ayatollah Khamenei.

This event also marked the end of the official mourning period for H.E. President Raisi, H.E. Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and their companion.
