Uganda and Czech Republic hold Bilateral Consultations in Kampala

A delegation from the Czech Republic led by Ms. KaterïnaSequensovẚ, Director General for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation is in the Uganda on a 5-day consultative visit to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. 

The delegation was received for the bilateral consultative meeting by Amb Elly Kamahungye, the Director for Regional and International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). During the discussions, Amb Elly Kamahungye and Ms. Sequensovẚ underlined the warm and close ties between Uganda and the Czech Republic. Both sides noted that the bilateral relations have tremendous potential and reaffirmed the mutual desire to strengthen the political, economic, health, defence, education, scientific, and social cooperation. 

The Czech Republic commended Uganda for its significant role in contributing to peace and security in the region applaudingUganda’s commitment and open door policy to acceptance of refugees. Both sides were of the view that without Defence, countries cannot prosper, and committed to enhance cooperation in this sector.

The two sides expressed interest in building tourism cooperation, with the Czech Republic inviting Uganda to participate in the Annual Holiday Fair to be held in the first quarter of 2025 in the Czech Republic. 

Amb. Kamahungye was accompanied by Heads of Departments, officials from MOFA, and officials of the Ministries of Energy and Education. Ms. Sequensovẚ was accompanied by Mr. Vaclav Prasil- Director of Sub-Saharan Africa; Mr. Jan Spiler – Chief of Strategic Projects and Defence Cooperation; Ambassador Nicol Adamcova – Czech Ambassador to Uganda; Mr. Stepan Konopasek, Deputy Head of Mission, Czech Embassy, Nairobi, Gen. Borijov Jurenke – Defence attache; Ms. Marta Anna Ledgard, Head of Trade, Czech Embassy and Mr. Steven Mpuuga Kaboyo, Honorary Consul of Czech Republic in Uganda.
