Uganda and Mozambique Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Key Agreements Signed at Joint Permanent Commission Session

The 2nd Ministerial Session of the Uganda-Mozambique Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) was held at Mestil Hotel in Kampala, marking a significant milestone in the cooperation between the two nations. The event, which took place from 16th to 19th September, was attended by high-level delegations from both countries and resulted in the signing of three crucial Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).

Among the agreements signed were:

  1. Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Service/Official, and Ordinary Passports – A move expected to facilitate smoother travel and strengthen diplomatic relations between Uganda and Mozambique.
  2. Veteran and Combatant Management – An MOU aimed at sharing experiences and strategies for managing military veterans and combatants.
  3. Protection of Wildlife – This MOU focuses on conservation efforts, reflecting a shared commitment to safeguarding natural habitats and biodiversity.

Simultaneously, the 2nd Annual Tourism Development Programme Review Conference was held under the theme “Tourism and Peace.” Organized by Uganda’s Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, the conference brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, development partners, researchers, and the media to assess the performance of the country’s tourism initiatives. The conference served as a platform for fostering collaboration, sharing information, and advocating for enhanced support and visibility of tourism initiatives.

The Ministerial Session and Tourism Conference together underscored the importance of collaboration between Uganda and Mozambique, particularly in areas of peace, tourism development, and environmental protection.
