The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet K. Museveni, has congratulated Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda on her appointment as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education. In a message shared via her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Mrs. Museveni expressed confidence in Dr. Turyagyenda’s leadership, stating that the ministry remains committed to ensuring a secure and supportive learning environment for students, despite the ongoing challenges such as the Red-Eye outbreak and recent cases of monkeypox.
In addition to addressing health concerns, the First Lady highlighted Uganda’s recent sporting achievements on both national and international levels. She mentioned the upcoming official reception of the country’s medalists at the Teryet National High Altitude Training Centre, which will be presided over by His Excellency the President.
Janet Museveni also commended the progress being made in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and expressed optimism regarding the swift conclusion of the Sports Bill amendment process and the reforms needed for the sub-sector.
In her message, she took the opportunity to thank Dr. Jane Egau Okou, the Under Secretary in the Ministry of Education, for her service in the acting position. Janet voiced full confidence in the collaborative efforts between Dr. Egau and Dr. Turyagyenda in driving the ministry’s vision forward.
The ministry continues to navigate challenges while celebrating its achievements and maintaining a focus on education, sports, and reforms within the sector.
