The organizing committee, comprising Alumni of Namasagali College in partnership with the Mill Hill Fathers, has announced the funeral arrangements for Rev Fr Damian Grimes, who passed away on September 4, 2024, in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Rev Fr Grimes expressed in his will the desire to be buried in Uganda. The Alumni are deeply grateful to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady, Hon. Janet K. Museveni, for facilitating the repatriation of Fr Grimes’ remains to Uganda.
The full funeral program is as follows:
Thursday, 26th September 2024:
- 09:00 AM: Arrival of the body at Entebbe Airport aboard Kenya Airways (KQ).
- 02:00 PM: Artiste Salutation in honor of Rev Fr Grimes at the National Theatre, hosted by the Uganda National Cultural Centre and the Uganda Centre of International Theatre Institute.
- 05:00 PM: Celebration of Life Mass officiated by Rev Daniel Oryem at Protea Hotel.
Friday, 27th September 2024:
- 10:00 AM: Requiem Mass at Munyonyo Basilica, officiated by Monsignor Kalumba and Fr Male, the Parish Priest.
- 03:00 PM: Requiem Mass at Rubaga Cathedral in Jinja, officiated by the Mill Hill Fathers.
- 05:00 PM: Father’s casket will be received at the Busoga Lukiko in Bugembe for a special sitting in his honor, led by Speaker Rt Hon George Mutyabule and the Lukiko members.
- Father’s casket will then be transported to Namasagali College, where overnight services will be held at the school.
Saturday, 28th September 2024:
- 11:00 AM: Funeral Mass presided over by Rt Rev Charles Martin Wamika, Bishop of Jinja Diocese, at Namasagali College.
- 02:00 PM: Internment at Namasagali College.
