Uganda High Commission in Dar es Salaam Celebrates 62nd Independence Anniversary in Colorful Ceremony

On October 25, 2024, the Uganda High Commission in Dar es Salaam held an astounding celebration to mark Uganda’s 62nd Independence anniversary at the Chancery. The event was graced by the Hon. Exaud Kigahe , Deputy Minister of State for Trade and Industry, alongside over 30 Heads of Missions, representatives from International Organizations, Tanzanian government officials and members of the Ugandan community in Tanzania.

In his address, High Commissioner Amb. Col. (Rtd.) Fred Mwesigye emphasized the deep historical ties between Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania, which date back to pre-independence. He highlighted the enduring partnership, from Tanzania’s support in the struggle to liberate Uganda from President Amin’s regime, to the present collaboration on major economic projects, such as the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

He re-echoed President Museveni’s message that the only Insuarance of Africa’s future is Integration for three reasons;Strategic Security,Prosperity and Undugu/Brotherhood

He thanked President Museveni and President Samia who are working together to build an International Seminary/University that will teach Mwalimu Nyerere’s Ideology and that of other Founding Fathers.

The Guest of Honor, Hon. Kigahe, congratulated Uganda on its achievements over the 62 years of independence and reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening the brotherly relations between the two nations.

The event featured cultural performances and presentations showcasing Uganda’s rich heritage, along with videos promoting investment opportunities and marketing Uganda as a premium tourism destination. It was also attended by Senior Comrade Butiku and over ten Kagera War Generals
