The NRM leadership has shown assurance in securing victory for the Kisoro district Woman Member of Parliament position in the upcoming November by-election.
Party officials expressed this sentiment yesterday as they accompanied Rose Kabagyeni, the NRM contender, on her campaign tour through Chahafi town council, Murora, and Kanaba sub-counties.
Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, the NRM’s Deputy National Treasurer, minimized the significance of internal disagreements among some party members, emphasizing that the ruling party has endured challenges over time and cannot be intimidated or adversely impacted by such issues.
“The NRM is larger than any individual. This is why it has overcome any form of internal contradictions among some leaders and remained focused on the primary goal of winning elections,” Kyatuhaire stated.
Highlighting the significant support the NRM has historically received in the Kisoro district, Kyatuhaire said, “We will build on our strong foundation by outlining government initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of the people.” She continued, “Our supporters are steadfast and won’t be swayed by the ambitions of self-serving leaders. No one is greater than the NRM or more important than the people of Kisoro. The outcome of the primary elections should be honored,” she concluded.
Ms. Rose Kabagyeni, the NRM candidate, expressed her commitment to advocating for the district by working to secure better services in areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, should she be elected for the remainder of the term leading up to the 2026 general elections.
“I have previously served in parliament, so I am well-versed in its operations. I urge you to place your trust in me and allow me to complete the initiatives left unfinished by the late Hon. Sarah Mateke,” Kabagyeni said.
She encouraged voters to cast their ballots in large numbers during next week’s election. “Make sure to vote before attending to your gardens and businesses. Your vote is vital in choosing the best representative for the job,” she emphasized.
Kabagyeni advised voters to avoid electing leaders based on divisive politics related to ethnicity and religion, pointing out that such actions are detrimental and conflict with the core values and principles upheld by the NRM.
“We are all Ugandans facing similar challenges, and selecting leaders based on ethnicity or religion is regressive and hinders progress and community growth,” she added.
Tomorrow, Kabagyeni will embark on day five of her campaign journey, where she is set to canvass Bukimbiri County.
