The Honourable Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, delivered opening remarks at the African Union Extra-Ordinary Summit on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
In her speech, she welcomed participants to Uganda, emphasizing the importance of the CAADP Strategy and Action Plan for the period 2026-2035. She highlighted the need for Africa to focus on reducing food imports and strengthening its agricultural sector, which employs over 60% of the continent’s workforce.
The Prime Minister urged African countries to work together to achieve the targets set under Agenda 2063 and to take advantage of regional trade opportunities. She also underscored the importance of policy reviews, investment in research, irrigation, and mechanization, and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to boost agricultural productivity and regional cooperation.
