Gen. Kainerugaba Explores Military Cooperation During Visit to Algerian Navy and Air Force Headquarters

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), visited the headquarters of the Algerian Navy and Air Force during his official visit to Algeria.

The Ugandan CDF was warmly received by the respective commanders of these military branches, who provided comprehensive briefings on their operational capabilities and explored prospects for collaboration.

This visit followed Gen. Kainerugaba’s earlier meeting with his Algerian counterpart, General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army. The two generals discussed plans for a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance military cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties between Uganda and Algeria.

At the Algerian Navy headquarters, Gen. Kainerugaba was introduced to the navy’s critical role in safeguarding Algeria’s territorial waters. The navy, operating from bases along Algeria’s extensive 1,440 km coastline, fulfills key missions in naval warfare, coast guard duties, and maritime safety.

Similarly, at the Air Force headquarters, Gen. Kainerugaba was briefed on its capabilities and discussed potential areas for future cooperation, emphasizing the shared vision of enhancing security and defense collaboration between the two nations.
