The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has been recognized for its remarkable Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), solidifying its reputation as a “pro-people’s army.”
Miss Nakyanzi Sarah, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Masaka, applauded the UPDF for its strong partnership with local communities.
Speaking on behalf of the district, she expressed appreciation for various CIMIC initiatives in Namirembe, Ddimo, and Malembe landing sites, including community cleaning exercises and free medical services.
“They have constructed two classrooms at Kajuna Primary School in Buwuunga Sub-county, built two fully equipped nurses’ houses in Zimwe, provided a toilet facility at Ddimo Landing Site, and organized free medical camps across the district,” Nakyanzi highlighted.
She urged the public to welcome and support the UPDF, emphasizing that the forces are well-trained and deeply integrated into the community.
Col. Lydia Nandudu, the Acting Director of Women Affairs in the UPDF and head of Civil-Military Cooperation – Air Force, encouraged women at the landing sites to take proactive steps toward financial independence.
Local residents commended the UPDF for its discipline, exceptional medical services, and distribution of fruit tree seedlings, which have positively impacted the community.
