The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is profoundly heartbroken to receive news of the untimely passing of Abubakar Lawal, a gifted player from Vipers SC, who tragically perished in an accident on Monday, 24th February 2025.
Lawal’s invaluable contribution to Ugandan football will always be remembered, especially his instrumental role in Vipers SC’s remarkable league and Uganda Cup double victory during the 2022/23 season.
His extraordinary skill and unwavering commitment established him as one of the most distinguished foreign players to ever feature in Ugandan football.
On behalf of FUFA, its affiliates, representatives, and secretariat, I offer my deepest sympathies to Abubakar’s family, Vipers SC President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, the Nigeria Football Federation, his friends, loved ones, and the entire football community.
