The body of Rajiv Ruparelia, the only son of business tycoon Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, was cremated at the Hindu Crematorium in Lugogo, Kampala, following his tragic death in a road crash on May 3.
The 35-year-old entrepreneur and philanthropist was remembered during a somber ceremony attended by family, friends, dignitaries, and members of the business and Indian communities.
President Yoweri Museveni, represented by Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, eulogized Rajiv as a young, promising, and industrious man whose loss is deeply felt by the nation.
Hindu priests led the final rites in accordance with traditional customs. Rajiv died instantly after his high-speed Nissan GTR collided with pavement barriers at the Busabala Flyover and caught fire.
