A full-scale inspection of all buses operated by Y.Y Coaches is currently underway at the Namanve Motor Vehicle Inspection Station. The exercise follows a directive issued by the Minister of State for Works and Transport (Transport), Hon. Fred Byamukama, in response to a series of recent road crashes involving the bus company.
The decision comes in the wake of serious accidents reported along the Katosi–Kyetume–Nyenga/Njeru and Pakwach–Arua highways, where Y.Y Coaches buses were involved in fatal collisions, raising public concern about the safety of the company’s fleet.
As a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Works and Transport has suspended the company’s operations for a period of 15 days. This temporary halt will facilitate a thorough investigation into the causes of the incidents and allow time for a full compliance audit of the company’s vehicles and operational standards.
“The safety of passengers is our top priority. This inspection and suspension are intended to ensure that all vehicles operated by Y.Y Coaches meet the required roadworthiness and safety standards before being allowed back on the road,” said Hon. Fred Byamukama.
The outcome of the inspection and audit will determine whether Y.Y Coaches will be cleared to resume their operations or face further regulatory actions.
