Emergency Simulation Exercise Underway at Entebbe International Airport

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has today activated a full-scale emergency simulation exercise at Entebbe International Airport, aimed at evaluating the airport’s readiness and the coordination capacity of its emergency response teams.

The exercise officially commenced at 13:09 hours on Friday afternoon and is being conducted in accordance with international civil aviation safety standards. Such drills are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that Entebbe International Airport remains compliant with global best practices for emergency preparedness.

As part of the simulation, users of airport facilities and members of the public may witness heightened emergency response activities including the presence of simulated smoke, fire, and rescue operations around the airport premises. Authorities have reassured the public that these are part of a controlled exercise and should not cause alarm.

“The safety and security of our passengers and staff is paramount,” the UCAA stated in a public advisory. “These simulations are crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of our response strategies in real emergency scenarios.”

Emergency service providers, including fire, medical, and security teams, are participating in the exercise to test communication protocols, coordination capabilities, and operational readiness under pressure.

The UCAA emphasized that while the simulation may temporarily affect normal routines at the airport, all operations will continue with minimal disruption.
