The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, officially welcomed Lawrence Alionzi, former Makerere University Guild President who previously aligned with the National Unity Platform (NUP), into the ruling party.
Alionzi was joined by a group of fellow youth leaders who also shifted allegiance to the NRM, citing the opposition’s lack of a coherent ideology and absence of visionary leadership to drive the country’s progress.
Todwong expressed his delight at the development, emphasizing the significance of youth embracing the movement.
“It’s deeply encouraging to witness educated and energetic young people join the NRM. This movement is not a fleeting affair it has a legacy. It was started by our forefathers, passed to us, and now it’s our responsibility to hand it over to you, the next generation,” he remarked.
Hajjat Medina Naham, the party’s Director for Finance and Administration, was also in attendance.
