UWA Finance Retreat Focuses on Tax Compliance and Operational Improvements

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) held a strategic finance retreat aimed at enhancing tax compliance and improving revenue systems.

Led by URA’s Hasifah Seguya, the training covered key areas including payroll tax, rental/property tax, VAT, withholding, and tax exemptions. Strong emphasis was placed on the mandatory use of TINs and making correct deductions to avoid penalties.

The retreat also addressed operational concerns such as bandwidth upgrades, collaboration with UCC and telecom providers for mast installations near revenue points, and joint efforts with UEDCL to resolve power supply challenges.

To improve financial accountability, each revenue point will now have two accountants conducting weekly reconciliations. The retreat concluded with insights on emerging trends in tax and revenue management.
