Dr. Charles Kabugo, Director of Kiruddu Hospital, expressed deep concern about stagnant water near high-voltage electrical equipment, warning that it poses serious risks, including electrical faults, short circuits, and potential damage to sensitive components. He explained that prolonged exposure to moisture could lead to corrosion, ultimately compromising the performance and lifespan of the hospital’s electrical system.
Dr. Kabugo noted that, despite several attempts to engage the Ministry of Health and relevant engineers, the issue remains unresolved. In the meantime, management is implementing temporary measures, such as regularly draining the affected area, while awaiting a permanent solution. He appealed for urgent intervention, stressing that lives are at risk.
Dr. Kabugo made these remarks while appearing before the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which pledged to convene internally to chart a way forward in addressing the matter.
