The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, this afternoon carried out an inspection of the UPDF National Referral Hospital in Mbuya a modern, high-tech medical facility soon to be officially inaugurated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Outfitted with advanced medical equipment, the hospital is expected to significantly transform healthcare delivery for military personnel, their families, and the broader Ugandan population.
Among its notable amenities are a helipad for emergency airlifts, VIP wards, accident and emergency units, physiotherapy centers, and specialized departments for various medical needs.
Guided by Prof. Ben Mbonye, Gen. Kainerugaba toured all six blocks of the hospital, reviewing the top-tier infrastructure built to provide quality healthcare for both soldiers and civilians.
As a passionate advocate for improved welfare in the UPDF, the CDF has consistently pushed for enhanced healthcare services, quality education for soldiers’ children, and modernisation of military equipment.
Since taking office last year, Gen. Kainerugaba has placed strong emphasis on effective service delivery, ensuring that troops are fully supported in fulfilling their duties.
The hospital visit was also attended by high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defence, including Permanent Secretary Rosette Byengoma and Undersecretary Edith Buturo.
When it becomes operational, the UPDF National Referral Hospital is expected to redefine Uganda’s health sector by providing exceptional care and strengthening the military’s capability to serve the nation.
