Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania are now in the final stretch as they prepare to host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024. The tournament kicks off on August 2 and runs through to August 30, 2025.

With just under two weeks left, the buzz is real across the region. This will be the first time in CAF history that three countries co-host a competition of this scale. It’s not just a football tournament it’s a landmark moment for East Africa and the continent as a whole.

Each of the three hosts will play a key role in delivering an unforgettable experience that brings together local talent, passionate fans and a united African spirit.

The opening match will be played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. From there, the action will move to Kampala, Uganda for the third-place playoff. The grand finale will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, where a new CHAN champion will be crowned.

This eighth edition of the tournament will shine a spotlight on locally-based players, giving them a continental platform to showcase their talent. The excitement is already building. Streets are buzzing, stadiums are being fine-tuned and preparations are in full swing.

CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba summed it up best:

“We’re now just two weeks away from writing a new chapter in African football. The TotalEnergies CAF CHAN 2024 is more than a tournament it’s a powerful statement of African excellence, unity and belief in local talent. East Africa is ready to welcome the continent.”

The final draw has already been held, with 19 teams including defending champions Senegal now slotted into their groups. Every fixture promises intense action, national pride and a chance for new stars to emerge.

As the clock ticks down, CAF and the Local Organising Committees are locking in the final logistics. Stadiums are getting their final touches, marketing campaigns are underway and ticketing plans are expected to be rolled out soon.
