President Museveni has officially endorsed Jane Frances Acilo as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the Oyam District Woman MP seat in the 2026 general elections.
The endorsement was made at State House during a meeting on the party’s preparations for the coming polls. Acilo becomes the first parliamentary aspirant to receive the President’s backing ahead of the election season, a sign of the confidence NRM leadership has in her ability to represent the district.
Oyam, once seen as a Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) stronghold, has in recent years registered stronger NRM support. Acilo has been at the heart of that shift, rallying grassroots structures and positioning the party as a growing force in the district.
She has pledged to focus her campaign on household incomes and community-driven development, arguing that families must be empowered with practical tools to improve their livelihoods.
“My leadership will focus on solutions that touch people’s daily lives,” Acilo said after receiving the endorsement. “This endorsement is an honor but also a responsibility. I will work to ensure Oyam families can build stable incomes and share in the vision of prosperity for all.”
