President Museveni Unveils Vision for Uganda’s Next Economic Leap

President Museveni delivered a visionary address titled “Time for the Qualitative Leap Forward.” Speaking before the nation’s top leadership, including the Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, and members of the NRM Central Executive Committee, President Museveni reflected on Uganda’s economic journey from independence in 1962 to its current transformation. He highlighted the historic phases that shaped the country from the colonial enclave economy of “3Cs and 3Ts” to the structural collapse during the Amin era, and finally to the sustained recovery, diversification, and modernization under the NRM.

The President emphasized the remarkable economic growth achieved expanding from USD 3.9 billion in 1986 to USD 66.1 billion by the 2025/26 financial year and outlined a bold agenda for Uganda’s next stage: a comprehensive leap into wealth creation, industrialization, and the knowledge economy. His address centers around seven pillars—peace, development, wealth, jobs, services, markets, and strategic security—aimed at ensuring prosperity for all Ugandans and positioning the nation as a key player in Africa’s integration and global competitiveness
