The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, has addressed the nation on the status of electricity supply in Uganda during a media briefing held at the Uganda Media Centre on Tuesday, 7th October 2025.
She provided an update on the progress made by UEDCL since taking over the distribution network following the end of the UMEME concession.
The Minister highlighted key infrastructure upgrades, new customer connections, and measures being implemented to enhance power reliability.
She also addressed challenges such as vandalism and electricity theft, urging citizens to join efforts to curb them.
The briefing reaffirmed Government’s commitment to investing in a modern, resilient, and sustainable electricity distribution system across the country.
