Action in the 2025 ITTF Africa Championship enters day three today with several Ugandan in action at the Salle Multidisciplinaire Rades in Tunisia.
The highlight for Uganda will be the Women’s doubles quarter final in which Ugandans Parvin Nangonzi and Jemimah Nakawala play Republic of South Africa’s duo of Sonday Rochica and Patel Danisha at 6pm (EAT)
To get to this stage,which upon success guarantees a medal,the Ugandan girls needed nerves of steel to edge Raharimanana Hanitra and Prevot Edena of Madagascar 3-2;8-11,13-11,11-7,7-11 and 14-12.
Other Ugandans in action today will be Jonathan Ssenyonga against Rakotorimanana Fabio of Madagascar in a men’s singles round of 32.
Earlier in the day, Jemimah Nakawala and Parvin Nangonzi will play women’s singles round of 32 games against Alhodaby Marwa (Egypt) and Sousa Kailane (Angola) respectively.
Uganda sent six players including David Odoi,Judith Mirembe and Joshua Magaya who are coached by Olympian Paul Mutambuze at this championship who’s team events are a qualifier to the London 2026 ITTF World team championship.
This ITTF Africa Championship is contested by 29 nations including Algeria, Democratic Republic of Congo and Benin.
