Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today met with H.E. Mr. Than Swe, Union Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, for cordial discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation between the two nations.
He appreciated H.E. Than Swe’s visit and highlighted the shared cultural values between the peoples of Uganda and Myanmar. He underscored opportunities for collaboration in science, technology, and mutual learning to advance the two countries’ development agendas.
Hon. Odongo proposed the establishment of an Honorary Consulate in Uganda to deepen cooperation. H.E. Than Swe welcomed the idea, recalling recent progress towards formal diplomatic ties and extended an invitation to Hon. Odongo to visit Myanmar soon.
