Nandala Mafabi Pledges to End Corruption and Revive Cooperatives in Amuria

Presidential candidate Nandala Mafabi has pledged to tackle corruption and revive Uganda’s economy, emphasizing his commitment to restoring accountability and promoting development during his campaign stop in Amuria District.

Addressing supporters, Mafabi said the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has the best manifesto to move the country forward, promising to stop the theft of public funds, which he claimed amounts to over UGX 10 trillion annually.

He outlined his plans to establish a mega starch factory in Teso, saying the project would create jobs and boost local incomes. “A kilo of starch goes for USD 360 on the world market,” he noted, adding that the factory would position the region as a key player in agricultural value addition.

Mafabi also promised to revive cooperatives and operationalize agricultural and cooperative banks to support farmers and rural enterprises across the country.

He urged Ugandans to embrace change after 40 years of President Museveni’s rule, likening the period to biblical and historical references to the number 40, which he said symbolizes completion and transition.

“We are not witch-hunting him,” Mafabi said. “We thank him for his service, but it is time for new blood and new ideas to take Uganda forward.”
