The President of the International Relations Committee of the Cuban National Assembly, Alberto Núñez, and Ulman Carmona, Head of Africa and Arab Affairs at Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on November 21 met a Ugandan parliamentary delegation led by Hon. Fred Opolot, Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Hon. Opolot was joined by Uganda’s Ambassador to Cuba, H.E. Elizabeth Sylvia Musaazi, Amb. Elly Kamahungye, Head of International Political Cooperation, and staff from the Ugandan Embassy in Havana.

The two sides discussed ways to expand cooperation and strengthen long-standing ties between the two countries. The meeting focused on parliamentary diplomacy, collaboration in education and health, technical exchanges, and identifying new areas of partnership aligned with the development goals of both nations.
Núñez welcomed the Ugandan delegation and reaffirmed Cuba’s interest in maintaining strong links with African countries. He noted the historic relationship between the two nations and said continued engagement at parliamentary level is important for advancing bilateral relations.
Hon. Opolot thanked Cuba for its sustained cooperation and said Uganda is committed to expanding collaboration in sectors that directly support national development. He said structured interaction between parliaments can help deepen the partnership.
Both sides agreed to keep regular consultations and work toward implementing practical initiatives that will strengthen relations and support development efforts in Cuba and Uganda.
