On the sidelines of the 19th NAM Ministerial2025 in Kampala 🇺🇬, Hon. Oryem Henry Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (International Affairs), held bilateral discussions with H.E. Saeed Baroud, Director of International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic 🇸🇾.
H.E. Baroud commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his visionary leadership and commitment to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement. The discussions also touched on Syria’s rich history particularly the heritage of Damascus and the country’s leadership in the Orthodox Church as symbols of resilience and cultural pride.
Both sides further exchanged views on the ongoing Gaza conflict and its impact on the broader Middle East region, reaffirming the need for dialogue, peace, and solidarity among NAM Member States.
