The wait is finally over. Group C of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 kicks off with two cracking fixtures, as Uganda face Tunisia while Tanzania take on heavyweights Nigeria. It’s a night set for intensity, ambition and early statements.
At the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Uganda Cranes walk out as underdogs, but nowhere near intimidated. Head coach Paul Put has made it clear his team is ready to compete, while captain Khalid Aucho has spoken confidently about belief, unity and discipline in the camp.

Uganda will hope experience blends well with energy Aucho’s control in midfield, Allan Okello’s drive, and the goal threat of Fahad Bayo will be key as they face a Tunisia side packed with AFCON pedigree. The Carthage Eagles, led by Jalel Kadri, will lean on the creativity of Youssef Msakni, the influence of Wahbi Khazri and a traditionally solid backline as they chase a perfect start.

Earlier at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, Nigeria meet Tanzania in a clash of power against resilience. The Super Eagles arrive among the tournament favourites, with big names like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi ready to shine. Tanzania, though, won’t roll over. Captain Mbwana Samatta will lead the fight as they look to stay organised, frustrate Nigeria and strike when the chance comes.
