President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni remains in the lead in the presidential race, according to the latest provisional results released by the Electoral Commission from the National Tally Centre in Lubowa.
In the most recent briefing, EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama said Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) stands at 75.38 percent of the votes counted so far. His closest challenger, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) of the National Unity Platform (NUP), follows with 20.71 percent.
Nathan Nandala Mafabi has 2.21 percent, Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) 0.56 percent, Frank Kabinga 0.44 percent, Robert Kasibante 0.30 percent, Mubarak Munyagwa 0.28 percent, and Joseph Mabirizi 0.21 percent.
Justice Byabakama reported that a total of 6,830,089 valid votes have been tallied, alongside 170,655 invalid ballots, which account for 2.4 percent of the total votes counted.
He stressed that the figures remain preliminary, as counting and verification of results from polling stations across the country is still ongoing.
Earlier updates from the Commission had placed Museveni at 61.7 percent and Kyagulanyi at 33.64 percent, before subsequent tallies adjusted the figures as more results were received from different parts of the country.
In another update issued by the Commission, Museveni’s share had been placed at 76.25 percent, with Kyagulanyi at 19.85 percent, further reflecting shifts as additional polling station results were added to the national tally.

The Electoral Commission has urged the public to remain calm and patient as the tallying process continues. The next official briefing is expected at 6:00 pm, after more results from polling stations are received and verified.
The Commission has reiterated that only final certified results announced by the Electoral Commission should be regarded as official.
