The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has welcomed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s decisive victory in Rubanda District, where he secured 89.62 percent of the total votes cast in the recently concluded general elections.
Party leaders described the outcome as a clear endorsement of the NRM leadership, its manifesto, and its development agenda for the next five years, particularly across the Kigezi sub-region.
The party also congratulated its parliamentary flag bearers, Hon. Henry Musasizi, who retained the Rubanda East seat, and Hon. Bruce Kabasa, who won in Rubanda West. Recognition was further extended to Hon. Ninsiima Evelyn Kikafunda, who contested as an independent after losing in the NRM primaries and is considered NRM-leaning.
According to the party, NRM candidates and allied independents secured the majority of elective positions in the district, reinforcing the party’s long-standing support in Rubanda.
Speaking at the NRM Secretariat, the party’s National Auditor and Coordinator of the Kigezi Sub-Region NRM Task Force, Ntahobari Moses Turyomurugyendo, thanked voters for their continued trust.
“We appreciate the people of Rubanda and the wider Kigezi region for standing with NRM and supporting our commitment to protecting the gains already made and delivering more services over the next five years,” Turyomurugyendo said.
He noted that the election results reflect the region’s focus on stability, peace, and development under President Museveni’s leadership.
The NRM leadership said it remains committed to fulfilling its campaign pledges, safeguarding past achievements, and accelerating socio-economic transformation in Rubanda District and the greater Kigezi sub-region.
