Stanley Patrick Johnson,a renowned environmentalist and father of UK politician Boris Johnson, has embarked on a tour of Uganda, exploring the country’s rich biodiversity and conservation efforts. His visit was inspired by Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Nimisha Madhvani, who highlighted the country’s investment potential and natural beauty.
On the fourth day of his tour, Stanley arrived in Kisoro aboard an AeroLink aeroplane and began his tour from “The Gorilla Organisation founded by Diana Fossy, where he is the current president.
This organisation was established to champion conservation causes by reducing human pressure, such as deforestation and poaching on the mountain by providing alternative economic activity to the people around the parks.
He also visited a primary school which is being reconstructed by funds raised by The Gorilla Organisation.
Mr. Johnson is staying at the luxurious Mgahinga Volcanoes Lodge in Mgahinga National Park Kisoro District nestled in the heart of Uganda’s Mgahinga Forest.
This 8-banda lodge offers stunning views of the Mgahinga, within the Batwa community.

One of the highlights of Stanley’s visit is trekking to see the silverback gorillas, where he had a great experience of an hour with a gorilla family of 11 members.
This is something close to his heart as a champion of great apes conservation.
As an author and advocate for environmental conservation, Stanley has long supported efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats.
His visit to Uganda coincides with ongoing conservation initiatives, including habitat restoration and community engagement programs aimed at preserving the country’s natural heritage.
The lodge, a pioneer in gorilla ecotourism, supports local initiatives like the Bwindi Bar, which trains disadvantaged youth in hospitality skills, promoting sustainable tourism practices and contributing to the local economy.
Stanley’s conservation efforts extend beyond Uganda, with a focus on climate change, biodiversity, and sustainability.
His work has inspired many to take action in protecting the planet’s precious ecosystems.
