The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) deployed in South Sudan under Operation Mulinzi wa Kimya commemorated the 45th Tarehe Sita Anniversary through a range of civil–military engagement activities.
The celebrations were presided over by the Special Forces Command (SFC) Component Commander in South Sudan, Col JM Kabila, representing the Joint Task Force Commander, Brig Gen Anthony Lukwago Mbuusi.
Col Kabila highlighted the fundamental principles of Tarehe Sita, noting that the day embodies patriotism, Pan-African unity, and selfless dedication to service. He honored serving personnel, veterans, and fallen heroes from both Uganda and South Sudan for their discipline, loyalty, and invaluable role in promoting regional peace, security, and stability.

As part of the commemorative activities, Col Kabila, alongside the Mangalla Payam Director, Mr Juma Marcellino Sebur, officially commissioned a newly built pit latrine at Dingdong Primary School.
Additionally, the UPDF medical team carried out a two-day free medical outreach in Mangalla Payam and at Dingdong Primary School, reaching over 1,500 beneficiaries. The outreach addressed a broad spectrum of health conditions, including infectious diseases, cardiovascular ailments, respiratory illnesses, endocrine and metabolic disorders, as well as gynaecological cases.
On behalf of the local leadership, Mr Sebur expressed appreciation to the UPDF for demonstrating unity and solidarity with the people of South Sudan, and for providing free medical services to the Mangalla Payam community and Dingdong Primary School.

Representing the Battle Group Commander, Col Bernard Kashemeza, Lt Col Alex Habyona encouraged residents to uphold the spirit of brotherhood, emphasizing the strong historical and cultural bonds shared between Uganda and South Sudan.
The event was attended by several officials, including Asset Commander Steven Namolo, Maj Benon Bamuhimbise, and the Gondokoro Payam Director, Mr Karlo Insak, among others.
