The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) has organised a four-day workshop in Kampala, Uganda, focused on drafting an Air Operations Manual.
The session, formally inaugurated by the EASF Joint Chief of Staff, Brig Gen Stephen Kashure, has assembled technical specialists to align regional air assets and formulate a unified air operations guide alongside a memorandum of understanding to steer coordinated air missions.
He highlighted that the proposed framework will facilitate prompt deployment when necessary, while upholding the sovereignty of all participating nations.
“This workshop represents an important milestone in enhancing regional air coordination and ensuring our forces are prepared to act quickly and efficiently whenever required. By harmonising procedures and boosting interoperability, we are strengthening operational preparedness while maintaining full respect for the sovereignty of our member states,” Brig Gen Kashure stated.
EASF Coordinator, Colonel Jancy Bizimana, revealed that the workshop has attracted eight delegates from three member countries: Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda.
The Eastern Africa Standby Force is among the regional peace support arrangements operating under the African Standby Force structure and is a key component of the African Peace and Security Architecture established in 2002. It functions as the regional operational body mandated to plan and execute peace support missions.
