The Enterprise Cup returns to Uganda with Muteesa II Royal Stadium, Wankulukuku, set to host the quarterfinals on March 21.
It will be the first time in more than two decades that Uganda stages this stage of the historic regional club tournament. First played in 1930, the Enterprise Cup remains one of East Africa’s oldest rugby competitions, bringing together top clubs from Uganda and Kenya.
Two heavyweight clashes headline the Kampala fixtures. Stanbic Black Pirates RFC face Kenyan champions KCB Rugby, while Platinum Credit Heathens RFC take on Kabras Sugar RFC.
The winners will advance to the semifinals on April 11, with the final scheduled for May 30.
Uganda Rugby Union confirmed that staging both quarterfinals at Wankulukuku is part of a revised Uganda-Kenya format aimed at reviving the competition while keeping logistics manageable.
The choice of venue has stirred debate among supporters, some of whom preferred traditional rugby grounds such as Kyadondo Rugby Club or Mandela National Stadium. Concerns were also raised about access and playing conditions during the rainy season.
Union officials say recent drainage upgrades at Wankulukuku and detailed planning around security and crowd management give confidence the stadium can deliver a proper match-day experience.
Administrators from Heathens and Black Pirates are among those involved in organising the fixtures as preparations intensify.
For Ugandan rugby fans, the return of the Enterprise Cup offers a rare chance to see the country’s top clubs go head to head with Kenya’s heavyweights on home soil. Ticketing and match-day details are expected to be announced soon.
