Uganda has intensified efforts to position itself as a leading sustainable tourism destination in the Nordic region, following a high-level Uganda–Danish/Nordic Tourism Symposium held in Copenhagen.
The symposium, convened by Uganda’s Embassy in Copenhagen, brought together tourism stakeholders, investors, and Nordic destination managers to explore opportunities for promoting Destination Uganda and strengthening partnerships within the sector.

Speaking at the event, Uganda’s Ambassador to Denmark, Margaret M. Otteskov, called on Nordic tourism players to actively market Uganda, highlighting the country’s strong security, unique eco-tourism attractions, and vast investment opportunities across the tourism value chain, including hospitality and transport.
She emphasized Uganda’s growing appeal as a sustainable tourism destination, noting that the country offers diverse experiences ranging from wildlife and nature-based tourism to cultural heritage.

The symposium provided a platform for business-to-business (B2B) engagements, enabling stakeholders to connect, share insights, and explore potential collaborations aimed at boosting tourism flows between Uganda and the Nordic region.
The event concluded with renewed partnerships, increased investor interest, and a vibrant cultural showcase, underscoring Uganda’s commitment to promoting its tourism sector on the global stage.
The engagements are expected to further strengthen Uganda’s visibility in the Nordic market and advance efforts to attract sustainable tourism investment.
