Nabbanja Launches Locally made Diagnostic Test Kits under BUBU

The Prime Minister, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, has launched locally manufactured diagnostic test kits under the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative, in a move aimed at promoting local production.

The launch, organised by the Ministry of Health, unveiled three test kits for HIV, malaria and sickle cell disease, all produced locally by Microhaem Diagnostics.

Health officials say the kits will strengthen disease detection and management, particularly for conditions that continue to place a heavy burden on the country’s health system.

Diagnostic test kits are a key tool in the prevention, early detection and treatment of diseases such as HIV, malaria and sickle cell disease.

Government says local production of such medical supplies will improve national health security, reduce reliance on imports and strengthen supply chains, while also supporting economic growth through local industry.
