Bweera Primary School in Kabale District has received new and renovated facilities under a UGX 20 million project funded by dfcu Bank in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

The works, implemented by Makerere University students under the Scholars Program, include a four-classroom block, a ventilated pit latrine, and a water-harvesting tank.

The school, established in 1983, serves over 270 pupils in a hard-to-reach area where limited infrastructure has affected learning.

dfcu Bank Head of Corporate Affairs Helena Mayanja said the project is part of ongoing efforts to support education in underserved communities.

Headteacher Edson Bikorwomuhangi welcomed the development but said the school still lacks staff houses and enough facilities to match growing enrolment. He also cited low parental involvement as a challenge.

Kabale District Education Officer Moses Bwegye urged parents to keep children in school and called on teachers to improve performance.

The new facilities are expected to ease congestion and improve learning conditions at the school.
