The Archbishop of the Orthodox Church in Uganda, Metropolitan Jeronymos Muzeeyi, has led Christians in an ecumenical Way of the Cross procession in Kampala, bringing together different denominations in a joint act of faith during the Easter season.

The procession started from the Orthodox Church headquarters in Namungoona and moved through the city to Old Kampala Secondary School playground, where prayers were held.

The Way of the Cross is a long-standing Christian tradition observed during the period leading to Easter. It retraces the final journey of Jesus Christ to his crucifixion, with believers pausing at different stages to reflect on his suffering, sacrifice, and message of redemption. In Uganda, the observance has increasingly taken on an ecumenical character, drawing participation from multiple churches.

Among those who took part was ASP Martin Abigaba of Old Kampala Police Post, who joined other Christians in the procession.

Religious leaders say the annual event serves as a reminder of unity, humility, and the need for reflection, as Christians prepare for Easter.
