Kadondi Gracious Elected Makerere Guild President

Kadondi Gracious has been declared the 92nd Guild President of Makerere University after winning the student elections held on April 9, 2026.

According to results released by the University’s Electoral Commission, Kadondi secured 6,801 votes to emerge winner in a tightly contested race involving 13 candidates.

Tumutunde Hannah finished second with 5,787 votes, while Kyajja Peter Cleaver came third with 1,493 votes.

The declaration was made by Electoral Commission Chairperson Owomugisha Maureen, who commended students for participating in a peaceful electoral process.

The Commission said the elections were conducted in line with the Makerere Students Guild Constitution, with results reflecting votes from various colleges and campuses.

Other candidates in the race included Nyaka Daniel, Nzanga Mark, Mujizi Mike Flugensio and Tebakoi Jimmy Prince among others.

Kadondi now takes over leadership of the students’ guild at a time when issues of student welfare, governance and engagement remain at the centre of campus life.
