The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has received a fresh show of support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2031 presidential ambitions, following the endorsement of five Members of Parliament from the Ankole sub-region.
The legislators visited the PLU National Secretariat on Monday, where they formally declared their support for Gen. Kainerugaba as their preferred candidate for the presidency in 2031 and beyond.
The delegation included Hon. Amos Kankunda, Hon. Amanya Cohen Kyampene, Hon. Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama, Hon. Boaz Atwijukire and Hon. Zadock Mutekanga.
They were received by PLU National Vice Chairman and General Secretary, Hon. Fadil Twalla, as the organisation continues its mobilisation and engagement with political leaders and supporters across the country.
The MPs represent different constituencies in the wider Ankole region, with Kankunda representing Rwampara County, Amanya representing Igara County West, Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama representing Mbarara South Division, Atwijukire representing Katerera County and Mutekanga representing Buhweju County.
Their endorsement adds to PLU’s ongoing campaign to mobilise support for Gen. Kainerugaba ahead of the 2031 presidential election.
Earlier this month, PLU launched a national presidential endorsement campaign alongside an online platform through which supporters can formally register their backing for Gen. Kainerugaba.
The campaign has attracted support from various political leaders, MPs, business personalities and other public figures, as PLU continues to build momentum around its political agenda beyond the 2026 elections.
