NRM Deputy Secretary General Urges Busoga Leaders to Prioritize Solving Community Challenges

The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko, has called on Busoga leaders to concentrate on addressing the challenges faced by ordinary citizens within the sub-region.

Speaking at a mobilization gathering organized by the NRM Secretariat at Mum Resort Hotel in Iganga on Tuesday, Namayanja stressed that leadership is about serving the people’s needs, despite its challenges.

“The people seek hope and expect the party and government to find solutions to their problems. We are dedicated to restoring NRM’s strong foothold in Busoga by tackling these issues,” Namayanja remarked.

She reaffirmed the party’s commitment to regaining support in Busoga by solving local problems and preparing for the 2026 elections.

Hon. Nansubuga Rosemary Seninde, the Director of Mobilization and Cadre Development, highlighted that the party’s outreach research in Busoga and Buganda indicated the importance of hearing directly from the people. She emphasized that addressing concerns in sectors such as fishing and sugarcane farming is a priority.

“As a secretariat, we recognized the need to reconnect with the people and engage with them to find solutions to their issues,” Seninde stated.

Legislators like Hon. Bagiire Aggrey Henry and Hon. Taaka Agnes commended the NRM Secretariat for organizing the event, urging for ongoing interaction, especially in areas like education, where parents are still asked to contribute financially despite the universal education policy.

In response to some concerns, Namayanja assured the leaders that their issues would be relayed to relevant ministries and government agencies. She also announced plans for further forums to gather more community input and monitor the progress on the matters raised.

The NRM leaders will meet tomorrow with sugarcane farmers in Jinja and the fishing community in Mayuge District.

The Busoga meeting brought together over 200 leaders, including Members of Parliament, local government representatives, Resident District Commissioners, party officials, and stakeholders from the fishing and sugarcane farming sectors.

Other key NRM figures in attendance included Hon. Alisemera Babiiha (NRM EC Commissioner), Counsel Enoch Barata (Director of Legal Affairs), and Mr. Rogers Mulindwa (Senior Communications Manager).
