Benon Kajuna Hands Over Transport Directorate, Takes on New Role at Uganda Railways Corporation

The Director of Transport, Mr. Benon Kajuna, has officially handed over the instruments of service to the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bageya Waiswa, marking the end of his tenure at the Ministry of Works and Transport.

Kajuna, who has led the Transport Directorate since 2015, has played a pivotal role in shaping Uganda’s transport sector. With a remarkable career spanning 24 years at the ministry, he has contributed significantly to policy development, infrastructure planning, and the overall transformation of the sector.

Following his dedicated service, he now moves on to a new challenge as the Managing Director of the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC). His appointment comes at a critical time when Uganda is prioritizing railway infrastructure as a key driver for economic growth and regional connectivity.

The Ministry of Works and Transport congratulated Mr. Kajuna on his new role, acknowledging his outstanding contributions and wishing him success in his next tour of duty.

As he embarks on this new journey at URC, stakeholders and industry players anticipate that his leadership will bring innovation and efficiency to Uganda’s railway sector.
