Uganda to Host the 11th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

Uganda will host the 11th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) from April 9–11, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo. This annual inter-governmental platform, jointly convened by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the African Development Bank, and various UN organizations, focuses on reviewing Africa’s progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.

The forum’s theme, “Driving Job Creation and Economic Growth through Sustainable, Inclusive, Science- and Evidence-Based Solutions,” will bring together over 1,500 participants, including Heads of State, former Heads of State, ministers, policymakers, and experts from across Africa and beyond. Pre-events will take place from April 6–8, 2025, with side events and exhibitions running alongside the main session. The President of Uganda will officially open the event.

The objective of the forum is to review regional progress, facilitate peer learning, and advance solutions to increase economic growth, job creation, and the scale of SDG and Agenda 2063 implementation. Key outcomes will include building consensus on Africa’s priorities, strengthening the capacity of countries to conduct voluntary national reviews, and forging new partnerships for financial and technological assistance to accelerate the implementation of development goals.

The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister has expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda, ECA, development partners, the United Nations, the Private Sector, and other stakeholders for their contribution to the preparations. She has called for continued support as more stakeholders join in to ensure the success of the 11th ARFSD.
