An extraction plan for Ugandans in Iran was shared with the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Uganda, and some students have already been registered for evacuation. Any individuals who are yet to register are encouraged to do so immediately.
Given the official closure of Iranian airspace, Ugandans are advised to use land routes only for any movement. Negotiations are ongoing with Azerbaijan to permit visa on arrival for Ugandans reaching its border.
Additionally, arrangements are being made for entry into Turkey, where an official is en route to facilitate the airlifting of stranded Ugandans back home.
Ugandans are strongly advised to avoid isolation and remain in contact with fellow nationals throughout this period.
