Democratic Front President Mpuuga Joins Masaka Catholics for Jubilee Mass, Urges Political Focus on Bishops’ Electoral Guidance

The President of the Democratic Front (DF), Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, today joined the Catholic faithful of Kitovu Deanery in Masaka Diocese to celebrate the Jubilee Year during a Mass led by the Ordinary of Masaka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Bishop Severus Jjumba.

The Sunday Mass, celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Kimaanya Parish, is part of the many Jubilee celebrations organized by the Catholic Church worldwide to commemorate the Jubilee Year. The celebrations aim at strengthening the Catholic faith and encouraging spiritual growth.

In his address, Mpuuga commended the Episcopal Conference for the thoughtful guidance they recently provided to the nation through their pastoral letter, as the country heads toward the 2026 election.

In the pastoral letter, released by the Chairperson of the Episcopal Conference, Rt. Rev. Bishop Anthony Zziwa, the Bishops called for a review of the electoral laws to ensure peaceful, free, and fair elections.

However, Mpuuga noted with concern that despite this guidance, many political players remain more focused on scrambling for political seats rather than discussing ways to effectively implement the Bishops’ well-considered recommendations.
